Provisional Teeth Replacement Prices and Options

The term ‘Provisional Prosthesis’ refers to an interim replacement of a tooth/teeth that is provided in cases where delivery of the ‘final’ or ‘definitive’ prosthetic tooth/teeth is delayed for a substantial length of time (2-12 months). The three most common examples whereby a provisional prosthesis may be required are:
1. For diagnostic purposes in order to determine the correct aesthetics and bite
2. Following gum surgery or extraction in order to allow for proper ‘maturation’ of the gums
3. Following implant surgery to allow for ‘osseo-integration’ of the implants

The main options include:

A. Provisional Acrylic Denture
Fees: $1,250 to 2,500 per arch
Disadvantage: Where inadequate tooth support is present any pressure on the gums/ implants may inhibit ossseointegration/ healing

B. Provisional fixed tooth-coloured plastic ‘Bridge’
Fees: $680 per ‘anchor’ tooth and $480 per tooth replaced

Or, where there is an inadequate number of teeth present to support one of the above provisional options,

C. Provisional mini-implants supporting an acrylic bridge
Fees: $595 per provisional implant an additional $480 per each tooth replaced
Removal of the provisional implants prior to the insertion of the final teeth attracts an additional fee of $180 per implant
